REHEARSAL EXPECTATIONS

1)      All rehearsals will be masked. You may remove your mask to eat or drink, but please try to be 6 feel away from others as you do so. If the weather is nice, try to eat outside.

2)      Be sure you always bring to rehearsals: a) your script b) a water bottle, c) a pen/pencil/highlighter to take your blocking notes.

3)      Be on time to all rehearsals. “On time” means being ready to go at call time. Often that means being in the theatre 10 minutes before rehearsal.

4)      Clean up after yourself. Leave every space you use cleaner than when you found it.

5)      Be sure to regularly check your UP email. Lots of information that you need will come via email.

6)      Respect everyone. Treating all members of this production, including stage managers and crew, with the utmost respect at all times is essential.

7)      Take care of yourself!! make sure you take time to rest your body and your voices, especially as we get close to show time. This includes following all covid protocols to keep yourself safe and ensure you can perform.

 

REQUIRED REHEARSAL SCHEDULE

Rehearsals will be scheduled between 7-11PM, Sunday-Thursday. Unless you have previously arranged conflicts or are not specifically called, performers should plan to attend all rehearsals.

You will never be asked to rehearse more than 18 hours a week.

 


OFF BOOK DATE

All actors should have their lines memorized and be able to perform without their script by October 25.

 

MANDATORY TECH AND DRESS REHEARSAL SCHEDULE

During these rehearsals, we will rehearse with varying tech elements added in. All students participating in the show must be at these rehearsals. A letter from the Provost will be provided to excuse from your evening classes the week of dress rehearsals.

 

These rehearsals will be held as follows

Saturday, November 6 (Q2Q) 2-7pm

Sunday, November 7 (Tech Run) 5-11pm

Monday, November 8 (First Dress) 5-11pm

Tuesday, November 9 (Final Dress) 5-11pm

 

 PERFORMANCE SCHEDULE


The opening performance will be held on:


Wednesday, November 10 at 7:30pm (tentative call 5pm)

 

            Performances after opening will be held on:

                                    Thursday, November 11 at 7:30pm (tentative call 5pm)

                                    Friday, November 12 at 7:30pm (tentative call 5pm)

                                    Saturday, November 13 at 7:30pm (tentative call 5pm)

                                    Sunday, November 14 at 2pm (tentative call 11:30am)

 

MANDITORY STRIKE

All performers and crew members are expected to assist in striking the set and costumes following the closing matinee. You should plan on at least two hours of work (tentative strike call 5-7pm).       

 

PROMO PHOTOS

A photographer will be present to take promo photos for use on social media, the newsletter, the playbill, and the lobby display on October 22 (Designer Run) and November 9 (Final Dress)

ILLNESS POLICY

We will be following the University’s Covid-19 policies for this production.

Fully vaccinated individuals who are identified by a member of the contact tracing team as a close contact of a COVID-19 positive case may continue attending rehearsal.  You do not need to quarantine if you are not experiencing symptoms.  However, you must: 

·         Closely monitor your health for COVID-19 symptoms.

·         Be vigilant about wearing a mask around others, both indoors and outdoors, until a negative test result.

·         Get tested 3-5 days after exposure with a PCR test.

·         If symptoms develop or a test is positive, isolate for 10 days from symptom onset or positive test

·         If you have any symptoms do not come to rehearsal.

In the unfortunate case you have a positive test within 10 days of the show or have symptoms, an understudy will go on for you.

 

CHAIN OF COMMUNICATION

This chain of communication outlines the best practices for communicating concerns within the rehearsal process. Whenever possible, participants are encouraged to discuss challenges and concerns with one another. If you are not comfortable directly addressing the individual(s) involved, or if no resolution can be agreed upon, you can use this chain of communication to begin a resolution process.

NOTE: If your concern or challenge involves an individual within the chain, please skip that step and communicate with the next appropriate individual. PLEASE do not keep your concerns to yourself – we cannot address an issue if we do not know it is an issue.

 



 

THIS AGREEMENT dated the 27th day of September 2021, by and between the UP Theater and

                                                 who is committing to perform the role of                                   .

That role will be performed under the following conditions:

This production, House of Desires, is scheduled to open on Wednesday, November 10, 2021. The following dates are mandatory to this assignment:

•          Tech rehearsals: Saturday, November 6 (Q2Q) 2-7pm, Sunday, November 7 (Tech Run) 5-11pm , Monday, November 8 (First Dress) 5-11pm, Tuesday, November 9 (Final Dress) 5-11pm

•          Performances: Wednesday, November 10 at 7:30pm (tentative call 5pm); Thursday, November 11 at 7:30pm (tentative call 5pm); Friday, November 12 at 7:30pm (tentative call 5pm); Saturday, November 13 at 7:30pm (tentative call 5pm); Sunday, November 14 at 2pm (tentative call 11:30am)

The Actor shall:

•          Be prompt at rehearsals and all other official calls (If this is not possible, they will inform the stage manager prior to that date. If there is an emergency, they will inform the stage manager as soon as they can.)

•          Appear at the theatre no later than one-half hour prior to the performance (The call for tech rehearsal or performance is 30 minutes prior to start. Please note: half-hour is merely the minimum call and actors may be called earlier.)

•          Pay strict regards to makeup and dress.

•          Conform to the language of the script and execute all dance, fight, and intimacy choreography as choreographed and respect the boundaries of their scene partners.

•          Properly care for the Actor’s costume and props.

•          Respect the physical property of the production and producing organization.

•          Refrain from using or being under the influence of illegal or controlled substances during rehearsals, half-hour calls, and performances.

•          Agree to have their name and likeness appear in print and digital media programs, publicity, promotion, and advertising that may include third-party sites. 

•          Agree to provide the Company with an electronic headshot and a 200 word or less biography as requested and in compliance with Company standards.

•          Abide by all reasonable rules and regulations of the producing organization.

•          The Actor commits to maintaining professional boundaries and practices throughout this process. This includes showing up to all calls on time, making an effort to exude a positive attitude towards the work, and treating all company members in an appropriate and respectful manner.

•          Should any disagreement or dispute arise between the production team and the actor, that dispute will be solved through an impartial moderator provided by the UP Theater Program.
