Dressers

Estimated time commitment: 40-50 hours

DESCRIPTION: The Dressers (D) will assist the Wardrobe Manager in running costumes for the performance. They must attend all dress rehearsals, performances, KCACTF response, photo call, and strike. Duties to include, but not limited to, prepping costumes, dressing and quick changes, maintenance, laundry and strike. They are responsible for the work as assigned by the Wardrobe Manager. These assignments might include ironing, helping with hair and make-up, dressing the actors, costume repairs, costume changes, and laundry.

REPORTS TO: Wardrobe Manager

EXPECTATIONS: 

Tech and Performance: 

  • Attend the Designer Run, Makeup Training, Tech Rehearsals and Performances as assigned. 

  • Report to WCH at specified call time. 

  • Sign in on the callboard when you arrive. 

  • Familiarize yourself with the costumes and consult with the WCH and/or Costume Designer as to how they are to be worn and maintained. 

  • Follow the Wardrobe Crew Guidelines provided by the Costume Shop Manage. 

  • Perform a wardrobe check prior to each show and troubleshoot as needed. 

  • Assure dressing rooms are in working order, clean and any safety protocols as are being followed. 

  • Assist performers with hair and make-up. 

  • Assist the performers with getting in and out of their costumes. 

  • Preset costumes and perform quick changes. 

  • Perform a wardrobe check at the end of each show and troubleshoot as needed. 

  • Report on simple and complicated repairs to the Costume Shop Manager at the end of each performance. 

  • Assure that general repairs and laundry duties are completed. 

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the WCH. 

Strike: 

  • Work with the Wardrobe Crew Head and Costume Shop Manager to strike the show and restore the dressing rooms.
