WARDROBE MANAGER

Estimated time commitment: 50-60 hours

 The Wardrobe Manager (WM) is charged with ensuring all costumes and dressing rooms are in working order. Reporting to the Stage Manage (SM) and Costume Shop Manager (CSM), the WM is the communications conduit between actor and production staff. It is expected that the WM attend crew orientation, makeup and hair workshops, dress rehearsals, photo calls, performances KCACTF response, and strike. The WM will work with dressers and the CSM to schedule laundry and repair of costumes between dress rehearsals and performances. This assignment may require some time outside of regular evening rehearsals and performances.

 The Wardrobe Manager will organize the Costume Running Crew and oversee all costume changes prior to dress rehearsal to check times for each costume change. The WM will also supervise the dressing room set up and quick-change stations. It is their responsibility to unlock and lock the dressing rooms each night.

 The Wardrobe Manager will assume all responsibility for costumes once the production enters technical rehearsals and must be available during and between performances to launder, iron, and repair costumes as needed.

 REPORTS TO: Stage Manager and Costume Shop Manager 

 EXPECTATIONS: 

  • Tech and Performance: 

  • Attend the Designer Run, Makeup Training, Tech Rehearsals and Performances as assigned. 

  • Familiarize yourself with the costumes and consult with the Designer and the Costume Shop Manager as to how they are to be worn and maintained. 

  • Assist with the creation of Wardrobe Crew assignments and scheduling. 

  • Follow the Wardrobe Crew Guidelines provided by the Costume Shop Manager. 

  • Report to Stage Manager at specified call time. 

  • Sign in on the callboard when you arrive. 

  • Perform a wardrobe check prior to each show and troubleshoot as needed. 

  • Assure dressing rooms are in working order. Follow any safety protocols in place. 

  • Perform a wardrobe check at the end of each show and troubleshoot as needed. 

  • Report complicated repairs and needs to the Costume Shop Manager at the end of each performance. 

  • Assist with the “choreographed” costume quick changes and oversee the execution of all changes during the run. 

  • Assure that general repairs and laundry duties are completed. 

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Costume Shop Manager. 

  • Strike: 

  • Work with the Costume Shop Manager to strike the show and restore the dressing rooms.
