Lead Electrician

DESCRIPTION: The Lead Electrician's job is to supervise and implement the hanging, circuiting, gelling and focusing of a lighting design for a specific production. The Lead Electrician receives a copy of the light plot, hook-up and instrument schedule at least 7 days prior to first tech. 

REPORTS TO: Lighting Designer, Technical Director, and Work Study Supervisor 

EXPECTATIONS: 

  • Attend Hang and Focus as scheduled  

  • Hang and circuit light instruments 

  • Report any electrical hazards found in the circuits, cables and instruments to the Technical Director 

Tech and Performance: 

  • Attend all Tech Rehearsals and Performances as assigned 

  • Attend Level Set and Q2Q 

  • Trouble shoot and adjust as needed during tech week 

  • Channel check prior to each tech rehearsal and performance  

  • Report to Stage Manager at specified call time  

  • Sign in on callboard 

Strike:  

  • Strike sort and restock gels. Strike running lights from backstage, and any practical lighting instruments on the set. Remove equipment and cable from line sets and stage. Return to storage areas.
