Light Board Operator
DESCRIPTION: With instruction and assistance from the Technical Staff, the Light Board Operator is responsible for operating the lighting control system for a specific production. The board operator will receive training in order to be able to save show files, patch, adjust levels and fade times, and record and execute cues. The Master Electrician, Lighting Designer, and/or Technical Director will oversee the training. Once the show opens the Light Board Op will perform a channel check to ensure all lighting equipment is functioning properly as well as operate the board during each performance. It is expected that the Light Board Op attends crew orientation, Designer run, light focus, tech rehearsals, and performances.
REPORTS TO: Stage Manager and Lighting Designer
EXPECTATIONS:
Light Focus and Q2Q:
Assist with programing the board during the level set
Bring up channels as requested by the Master Electrician and Lighting Designer
Enter the cues into the light board as the lighting designer cues the show
Save show file at the end of the night and shut down the light board
Tech and Performance:
Attend the Designer Tech Rehearsals and Performances as assigned
Report to Stage Manager at specified call time. (Most often 60-90 minutes before Go)
Sign in on callboard
Work with the Master Electrician to perform a light and channel check and troubleshoot
Execute cues at the direction of the Stage Manager
Adjust cues at the direction of the Lighting Designer
Perform other duties as assigned by the Stage Manager (Sweeping/mopping the stage, turning on running lights, striking the ghost light, etc.)
